Do you know that almost 30% of the plastic used ends up on the seafloor?

︎︎︎ Our Idea

We live in a society unable to recognize that climate is irreversibly changing. Worsening climate conditions are undoubtedly connected with (what has been) an ever-growing production of plastics waste, transforming our world into a place unsuitable for living in.

Intending to question this irreversibility, we introduce an installation that interacts with the audience's choices.

︎︎︎ The Installation

It is called "living the climate change" and is created to raise the audience's awareness of the irreversibility of the Earth's climate change caused by plastic pollution. Our goal is to help people identify their environmental footprint and question their use of non-recyclable plastic.

Started with a breif instruction of how it works and what the audience should do, our installation is encouraging the audience to raise their arm and interact with it. Central to the exhibition is a voting system where the audience is presented with different options. Depending on the choice made, they can immediately see and realize how they treat the world they live in and receive evidence of their environmental footprint. The live installation provides ecological data specific to the participant interacting with it.

︎︎︎ Step by Step

Our working progress was iteration round by round. We started with testing how does the technical equipment works, what’s the possibility and limitations. We discussed the details over and over again to find a way to represent our idea.

The more exciting part is, to build a physical installation, we really made our hand dirty. We found materials in the local shops, design and produce by ourself. It's not easy to build physical installations, but it's a great exercise for organizing things together.

︎︎︎ The Final Set Up

Here is how did we build our installation step by step.
